Each program you enter is governed by a unique set of U.S. Figure Skating rules for that program type. SkaterStudio automatically provides rule references tailored to the current program you are creating so that you don't have to search through pages of rules to find the general technical element guidelines for your program. SkaterStudio automatically checks your age for Regional Championship eligibility, your program length, and guides you in the technical element selection process. Rule references can be used to provide further confirmation and comfort that your planned program meets current U.S. Figure Skating guidelines.

SkaterStudio assists you when selecting technical elements every step of the way by automatically placing a green 'check mark' next to each valid technical element or a red 'x' next to each invalid technical element. All check marks and 'x's are updated after every user selection. For example, an element that is legal as your first program element may not be allowed again in the same program due to repetition rules. The Program Component module has been designed primarily for educational purposes. Explanations for Program Component (PCS) fundamentals and scoring have been included to provide an interactive learning experience. PCS fundamentals are explained and PCS scores are calculated and included in the overall program score known as the Total Segment Score. See the impact that Program Component marks have on your overall program score. Enter your program plan and then adjust your Program Component marks to most closely match the marks you receive from the judging panel. Learn the meaning of PCS scores for your level according to the U.S. Figure Skating ratings table for PCS scores you expect or have received.

Create and Save a Custom Program Score Sheet, Known as a Protocol Sheet, for Each Program you Enter.

A custom protocol sheet can be created and saved on your computer for every program you enter. Each protocol sheet your create is a standard competition protocol sheet, which also includes additional information to help you better understand program element and program component scores. Each protocol sheet contains the general program information that you have entered as well as all selected Technical Elements and Program Component Scores. Any protocol sheet can be viewed and printed at any time once it has been saved.

All General Program Information is Saved Each Time you Enter a Program.

You may login to SkaterStudio from any computer with Internet connectivity. All saved program information is saved on the computer on which you are working. If you use SkaterStudio on two different computers then you will have two different sets of saved programs. Stored program information enables you to quickly select a program and enter new elements or make adjustments to previously selected elements by referencing your saved score sheet. Technical Elements and Program Component Scores are only saved with each program's score sheet and must be entered again if you exit or restart SkaterStudio. Select a saved program from your list of program names and then go to the Element and PCS screens to enter new elements or PCS values for an existing program.

*IJS Scoring Adoption

International Judging System (IJS) scoring has not been adopted by U.S. Figure Skating for Pre-Juvenile, Preliminary, or Pre-Preliminary at this time. SkaterStudio has, however, implemented current U.S. Figure Skating rules for these levels. SkaterStudio should be used to familiarize beginning skaters with IJS rules and scoring methods, so that they will be prepared as they advance or in the event that IJS scoring is adopted.
